Our vision is bold for our next ten years and beyond...

As My Money Workshop celebrates our Tenth Anniversary we want to accelerate the impact of our founder, Dick Yaffa’s vision and educate more participants on the importance of financial literacy. We have accomplished a lot in the first ten years and our vision is bold for the next ten and beyond.

We want to double the participants we teach each year and invite our donors, volunteers, and friends on this journey to reach 6,000 participants taught annually by 2023. In order to accomplish these ambitious goals, we are kicking off a Tenth Anniversary Campaign to increase our donors, volunteers, partners, and friends as well as adding a digital curriculum.

Our First 10 Years:
Expanding the Financial Literacy Of our community members

It wasn’t until Dick Yaffa stood in front of a local student group that he realized the gap in their financial knowledge. He was emboldened by the students’ reception of all the lessons he taught them that day, and soon after gathered his closest friends, many who are here today, and created My Money Workshop.
Ten years later, Dick’s vision lives on.

Why Do This?
Answering a very real need

Our participants are dealing with a multitude of circumstances that bar them from economic success. Rising rent prices, unemployment, corrections records, massive student loan debt, among many others.

Workshop participants need to know that we are right there with them – that My Money Workshop cares about their overall success.

  • 40% of Americans can’t pay for an unexpected $400 emergency.
  • A 2016 PricewaterhouseCoopers survey of 5,000 millennials found that only 24% demonstrated basic financial knowledge.
  • Over 20% of adults are not able to pay all of their current month’s bills in full.
